New update!

Still might need some polish and extensive testing, as it's a relatively big one.

  • Added multi-select. If you select at least one tower, all towers will be affected when changing/upgrading/selling. When building a new tower, it will build on all selected tiles. Prices reflect the cost of all actions combined.
  • Added hotkeys. When building towers, press 1-9 to build the corresponding tower/farm/wall based on the order in the list on the right. When selecting existing towers, will change its strategy.
  • Press E to buy the current effect on selected towers
  • Press X to sell selected towers
  • Added Fast-Forward checkbox! Will run as fast as your rig can handle while still trying to achieve smooth FPS. If the game is already struggling without this active, it obviously won't do anything. The desktop version is massively faster than the webGL version so feel free to try that if you want speedy mobs!
  • Reworked some code to improve performance. Introduced new code to reduce performance.
  • Element changes: Effects can now be applied to targets that resist that element. The damage being halved was punishment enough.
  • Balance changes: Walls and some towers have more HP. mobs are also a bit more tanky overall, except for the bosses which have been nerfed a little.
  • Balance changes: Reduced AoE power of AoE mobs. It still hurts, but a bit less and they won't steamroll as much as before.
  • Balance changes: Reworked some towers. Mortar now has a longer range than sniper. Arrow tower has higher DPS making it stay relevant. Pricing had a minor rework. Close range towers are more effective to offset the risk. Snipers aren't king anymore, they're still good but not as good as before.
  • Fixed some small UI issues
  • Fixed some bugs

Build towers, defeat enemies, farm coins, repeat! Acquire a high score and post it in the comments!

In this game, you have to strategically place towers to maximize their damage while minimizing losses. The enemies will find a path to the Gate through your maze of towers, and they will also fire back! Towers can be destroyed!

Upgrade towers and give them an elemental effect, causing debuffs to appear on enemies. But be careful! Enemies can also debuff your towers!

Earn more income by building farms, but be careful to not get overrun!

Controls

Mostly mouse-driven. Click to select tiles, click on buttons to do stuff. Right click to cancel selection. Can use WASD to pan the camera, scroll to zoom, and hold shift to fly like a FPS camera with WASD+mouse. Press R at any time to reset the camera.

Towers

There are many towers at your disposal, each with strengths and weaknesses for you to discover. Before building them, you can hover over the button to see their stats, allowing you to decide whether they are worth it for you at that moment.

You can build and upgrade towers in-between waves, if you have enough gold. You cannot build or upgrade during a wave, when enemies are on the field. You can, however, change a tower's strategy at any time, causing it to focus different targets.

Once a wave is over, you can spend your well-earned gold!

Enemies

Each wave comes with a combination of enemies, arriving in different lanes. You can view the arrows to see which lanes they will initilally arrive at. However, once they're on the field, they will find the shortest path between your towers to the left. You cannot block their path, there must always be a valid path for them to walk.

Enemies can damage your towers, just like you can damage them. Damaged towers will automatically be repaired at the start of a wave, so you can check in-between waves which towers might need an HP upgrade.

Gate

When enemies reach the Kingdom Gate, they will damage it. The Gate cannot be repaired, and once it reaches 0 it is game over. You can always try again and achieve a higher score!

Mostly made from scratch in 6 days by Frib. I reused a music track from over a year ago because I ran out of time to create a track from scratch, and I've reused a few utility scripts etc.

gave up at wave 63 with 28227 score.  level 61 destroyed my 1k hp walls like paper :(

Yeah that wave is currently way overtuned lol. Good score, though!

I'll push an update with some rebalancing etc once the game jam lockdown is over, it should make things a bit more fun and interesting.

I can't update the game right now due to the game jam, but I'll definitely push an update with some balance tweaks and QoL features (like fast forward, hotkeys, and hopefully multiselect and repeat building), and we'll see what else.
