The Curse
A game made for GDKO 2024 Round 4 - Semifinals.
This is a party-based stealth simulation game. Well, proof of concept. There's not much actual content in there past the tutorial.
Criteria

Ability to shapeshift: Dog/TharreusA dog: Tharreus
Candy: On the table in level 1
Flower pot: On the table in level 1
Potion: On the table in level 2. Inspect it with Tharreus for extra flavor
Scarecrow: Behind the door in level 3
Deck of cards: On the table in level 2
Peanut: Storage closet in level 2
Wand: Held by Hauss
Controls
The entire game is played with your mouse. The tutorial in-game will tell you what to do, but here's a quick overview
- Click RMB: Move to location. Doubleclick: Run (when stealthed)
- Hold LMB: Pan camera
- Hold LMB over interactable (item, person, etc): Action wheel
- Hold both RMB and LMB: Run forward
- Scroll wheel: Zoom
Click on a portrait in the bottom left to control that character. Click on the same portrait again to focus the camera on that character
With the action wheel visible, hover over the action you want to perform, then let LMB go to make your character attempt to do that.
Some actions are only possible with one specific character. And each character may give a different response to the same action.
Inspiration
The art style and music are inspired by Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours. I want to say that this game takes place in the Secret Histories setting, but there's no actual tie in to this setting.
Assets used
I used a bunch of free assets from MakeHuman, instead of making my own humanoids. All other content was made by myself.
